The Book of Life: The Bible as a Means of Grace
speaker: The Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox
The 2014 Archbishop Blanch Lecture, The Book of Life: the Bible as a means of grace, was delivered by the Very Reverend Dr Pete Wilcox, Dean of Liverpool.
Pete came to Liverpool in 2012 having been ordained for 25 years. After training at Ridley Hall in Cambridge, he served as a Curate on Teesside; studied for a doctorate at Oxford University; returned to Durham Diocese as a Team Vicar in Gateshead while assisting in the training of ordinands at Cranmer Hall as Director of its Urban Mission Centre. In 1998 he became Priest-in-charge in Walsall where he took responsibility for a recently and ambitiously re-ordered town centre church. His role combined the leadership of a Christian Social Enterprise with that of a thriving congregation. Between 2006 and 2012 he was Canon Chancellor at Lichfield Cathedral, a post which involved oversight of the Cathedral’s work in education and outreach. In 2013 he delivered the inaugural Liverpool Cathedral Urban Lecture.
He is author of three books: Living the Dream (2007), Walking the Walk (2009) and Talking the Talk (2011).
